Production 3- New Change In Style (Winter Break)

Image
Over winter break I have continued   working on the portfolio project independently.  During these two weeks  I made a major change in the style of my movie, and I also recorded the audio .        Originally, I had planned to produce my film as a live action, but I received many problems during production. The  main problem I had was  with  the location. I was unable to achieve the lighting I had in mind , I was worried the shot would look cluttered because of a lack of space, and  I was unsure  about  whether or not  there  would be  background noise.   As a result of these problems, I made the decision to change the style from live action to animation.      It wasn’t until I met in person with my actors when I decided to change the style.  When they arrived,  I told them  all my issues with filming  live action and mentioned doing an animation ins...

Production 2- Making Decisions (Day 5)

Today is  day  5   of working on the portfolio project independently.  Yesterday and today has mainly been gathering props and setting up for filming.      During day  4, I planned on where I want my location to be for filming. I also concluded that if I can find  a better filming location by December 29 th  (the day of shooting), then I might switch locations.      During day  5 ,  along with writing this blog post, I debated on  whether or not  I should buy some cheap microphones to ensure that the audio is of nicer quality. I was concerned that  only using my phone to capture the audio might not turn out well.  After going through pros and cons, I don’t believe microphones will be necessary.  My filming l...

Production 1- Editing My Plan (Day 3)

Image
Today is  day 3   of working on the portfolio project independently. In the first two days, I did lots of editing to my  planner .      During day 1, I called with my friends, who will star in the film, and asked them to help create the script so that it sounds more like  them and not like me.  First, we got all the introduction dialogue down and timed it to see how many seconds long it was.  Sadly, the length was not  as long as  I had originally thought. So, then I gave my friends two options and asked their opinions on which one would seem like the b etter choice. The two options were: to extend the introductions or to create a conversation at the end of the two minutes about how the podcast came to be.  In the end, we all favored to add the story about the creation of the Awful Waffles Podcas t .  Also, since I had my actors on the call, I decided to schedule the day to film. After ruling out Decemb...
